Which Lenovo IdeaPad laptop are you?

If ever I'll buy a new laptop, I want to get a Lenovo IdeaPad U150.  Why? Because I feel it's like me.

1.  It has subtle design has some unique and attractive elements.  Well my husband always tell me that I am beautiful.

2. The lid, which comes in either black or red, features a hard matte surface with subtle lines and a web pattern.  I love to wear red and blck clothes.

3. The keyboard (excluding the top row) and textured touchpad share the same silver color, and the touchpad is covered with a layer of dots. I like accessories and kikay stuff.

These is just some of the reasons why I can say that I am  Lenovo IdeaPad U150!  If ever I can own one in the future, I will surely discover more similarities between me and my dream laptop

This is my official entry to the Lenovo-PTB Great Laptop Giveaway!

Good working habits we can learn from kids

This article was published last November 28, 2010 in the Philippine Daily Inquirer - Working People section.

I was amused to hear someone has just invented a double-headed broom to collect large debris and fine dust simultaneously.  I was floored (no pun intended) when I found out from BBC that a 5-year old boy from UK named Sam Houghton invented it to help his father sweep leaves in their front yard.

Then, I told my self, “Why should I be surprised?”   Justin Bieber conquered the imagination of music fans worldwide at the age of 14.  Then, Filipino Steven Purugganan was hailed as the World Speed Stacking champion when he was just 10.  These stories only prove that age doesn’t matter when it comes to reaching one’s dreams.

Being a mother of a 1-year old son, I am surprised how fast my little one learned things like clicking the mouse of our PC, turning off the TV, answering the phone, and other things.  Makes me wonder what kids today have been eating that we don’t have when we were young.

But one thing that really surprises me and something I hate to admit is the fact that I actually learned a lot of things from children.  Allow me to share some good working habits that I learned from kids since I started working in a school three years ago:

  1. Use multitasking for routine tasks. It is helpful in accomplishing more chores at the same time.  If you want to get some technique on how to properly do it, watch your child study while watching TV, eating merienda and play with his/ her favorite toy in your living room.
  2. Be honest always.  It has been said that children speaks the truth.  If we adults can establish trust within our respective workplaces, there will be better productivity since it permits people to overcome doubts and unknowns and enjoy peace of mind. The absence of trust causes confusion, worry, inaction, and fear.
  3. Don’t be afraid to try new things.  It's the only way you can truly realize your potential.  It’s like limiting yourself into just doing the same things everyday because you are afraid to take the risk.  The next time you compose a letter, try to do it in front of the computer and not with the typewriter.  Did I mention that my 1-year old son knows to use a mouse?
  4. Think positive. Do not think how hard your work load is or how many days you will need to finish them.  Consider these difficulties as challenges that are just part of your job.  Remember those times that you hate to wear shoes because you don’t know how to tie their laces.  Now, as if it’s like paradise when you’re in a shoe store.
  5. Ask questions when you’re confused.  Don’t think that if you keep on asking for help people would compare you to a child who never runs out of questions.   Part of learning is getting information from people who know how to do things that you are not familiar with.  It’s more embarrassing when people try to lecture you after you failed with your work.
  6. Respect the elderly.  It always makes me smile when I hear kids say “po” and “opo.”  It reflects that these kids where raised properly by their parents.  Sometimes, we tend to forget to say those “magic words” when we ask for favors from our janitors or security guards who are older than us.  Believe me, they are more inspired to work when they feel they are respected.
  7. Be true to your word.  Kids remember every detail of the promises you gave to them so make sure these will not end up as broken promises otherwise they’ll be broken-hearted.   Remember that when something is agreed upon, it should be done.
  8. Always be on time.  There is a golden rule that you should always remember when you work in a school and that is you should not be late for work.  Students and being taught everyday about the value of time and it will be uncomfortable to arrive in the office when all the students are already there.
  9. Give importance to rest and relaxation. Good working habits are not just about working. Our body and mind also needs a breather from all the office tasks we are doing.  Take time to play.  It’s not for kids only.
  10. Dream and believe you can achieve it.  No one is too old to dream.  Always remember that life is an unending journey and each day provides a different opportunity to learn new things.  Work hard, put your heart and mind into it and you’ll definitely reach that goal someday.

Hand, Foot and Mouth Disease

I work in school here in Pasig... The reason why I applied to work in school is to have extra vacations, like long Christmas Vacations, Summer Vacations and Semestral Breaks.  During those weeks that children in our school are on their vacation,  we are also given additional days to relax and be with our families.

Last week was the Semestral Break.  Sadly, instead of relaxing,  my baby Charles was sick.. First I thought he was teething coz he has fever and doesn't like to drink his milk.  the next day, still has fever,  I brought him to his doctor, and found out that he has Hand Foot and Mouth Disease, and rashes were coming out from his whole body, and blisters from his hands, and feet.  Dra. Sy chua also chicked Charles' throat and found that his throat was sooo red, and has blisters or like singaw.

It was really very sad to see Charles crying, irritated with rashes, and hungry but he can't drink milk or eat anything, then he also has fever!  Minsan nga, nagagalit na ako, dahil iyak ng iyak, but I'm also crying kasi parang wala akong magawa to help him.

After 3 - 5 days, he's okay na.  I gave him Immunosin, and an antibiotic, and Tempra for fever. Thank God, magaling yung Pedia nya.  I pray na sana he'll continue to be well.  No more sickness for the family....

Brgy. Election

This coming Monday, October 25, 2010 will be our Barangay Election.  I'll be honest to tell na wala naman akong kilalang  i-bo-boto on Monday.  I'll be voting in Project 4, Quezon City, while my husband Daniel, will vote in Brgy. San Miguel in Pasig.  Di ko talaga kilala kung sino yung mga pwedeng iboto.  Siguro, kung sino nalang yung sasalubong sa akin on my way to vote!!!!

While writing this blog,  I'm looking at my husband Daniel and our son Charles.  They're on the dining,  I can tell na talagang  little boy na ang baby ko! He knows na how to hold glass and drink water,  eat wafer, and stik-O.  This afternoon nga, we went to Shakeys  SM North.  We attended a birthday party of our cousin Robbie Mae.  Well, at first,  medyo enjoy naman si Charles,  pero ,  medyo naging sleepy sya,  and he started crying na.  But when it was meal time na!  WOW!  enjoy naman sya as he eats his spaghetti and ice cream!  He also enjoyd when the mascot came,  and danced --- In My Head, while he danced holding his head!  hehehe!  nakakatuwa nga talaga sya e!

Stop  ko muna ito, again.  Aalis si yaya tonoight, kaya super ako ang magpapatulog sa aking baby boy!  He sleeps kasi mga 10:30,  Oh, I hope, he'll sleep early tonight....

Waiting Baby

Often time, that at 7:00 pm, I'm at home from work,  eating dinner with my husband and our baby Charles.  It's already 7:20 pm from my watch and I'm still out with my husband.  I attend a Seminar this afternoon and it finished  at 5:00 pm when I received a message from Richard that he'll be staying until six.  Since the Seminar was held in PMAP where he works, I have no choice but to wait for him!  Oh I hope the meeting will be finished na.  For sure, Charles is looking for us na, especially his mommy!  Miss ko na baby ko!  Buti nalang dinala ko sya this morning sa Mama ko, who lives in Project 4, Quezon City with the rest of my family. Atleast, hindi lang si yaya Ghie yung kasama nya the whole day.  He enjoys naman playing with his Aunties, counsins, lolo  and lola in Project 4 e.  I hope before 8 matapos na yung meeting nila, since may pasok din ako tomorrow.

My Toddler

Is it true that while my son is growing, kasabay nun yung mga untog, scratches, bukol, sugat, etc... etc...???  Last Monday night  was awful.  My husband and Charles (our son)  they were watching Pororo the Little Penguin, when Charles started dancing when he heard the theme song in fron t of our television.  Maybe, because of so much excitement, he went near the tv and grabbed it!  I saw how fast Daniel was  to pull away Charles from the falling tv.  He cried when he heard us shouting.  But thank God he wasn't hurt.  Until last night, when we were both playing on our bed when I came home from work. When we got his first bukol when he bumped from the wall.  Ouch!!  He cried loud and I couldn't hide my fear when I saw his bukol!  Scared of what will happen to Charles and scared of what will his Dad Daniel tell me when he found out of the bukol.  Thank God again, coz  Daniel didn't get mad and said, that it's part of growing.  Hope it'll not happen again.  Sorry baby Charles.

Happy Shanghai to you!

Yesterday was my husband's birthday.  We went to Project 4 where my family (Martirez Family) lives.  We had sweet and sour Lapu-Lapu, lumpiang shanghai, and lomi for  lunch, and cakes and ice creams for merienda.

I gave my son Charles lumpia so he can eat it by himself.  And I found it nice seeing him enjoying lumpia and he eventually finished 1 roll of lumpia.  Then, we went back in our house in Pasig also to celebrate Daniel's birthday!  Wow!  Double celebration!  Dinner naman this time! Still, may lumpiang shanghai again on our table, and I noticed my little boy, eating lumpia again!!!! hahaha!

Enjoy yata sya, to hold the lumpia and eat it!

For My Hubby

I swear when I post this, my husband will call or text me to tell me NOT to buy him present for his birthday on September 5.  Sorry love, I just can't help but to think what gift  I can give you on your birthday!

Last Sunday, my husband and I  attended a seminar on how to handle our finances.  After the seminar,  we both agreed that we should save our income and help each other save for the future of our son, Charles.

But, I think, buying gift for my husband is fine -- since birthday comes only once a year, right?  Don't worry love,  pinag-ipunan ko naman 'to, dahil gusto ko na may regalo kami ni Charles sa'yo on your birthday!  So, I hope you'll appreciate  whatever gift  that you will receive from us!

Who wants to be a model?

I remember when I was young, I used to cut cartoon strips from newspapers especially the one I find very amusing.

Then I heard about the Larry Alcala Collection of Solo where works of the great cartoonist are printed on Solo's line of apparel from blouses to polo shirts to shorts and leggins and other unique products.

My favorite among the collection is the Ladies dress with printed purple laces from a child playing an improvised toy phone.

Btw, in case you don't know, Solo has an online model search for those who feel like they have what it takes to be the face of Solo.  It's easy to join, just wear one of Larry Alcala's items in your submission entry with the creative use of graphic elements available at Solo.com.ph and submit it!

Anyone registering on the site can vote. Have fun looking at all the entries and the comments posted about each entry. Vote and post your own comments too! The winners win cash and product prizes and will grace the walls of all Solo stores in the next campaign shoot. Contest starts August 22 until November 15. Join now and tell you friends about it!

This pop collection will surely got us all hooked! To view the entire Men's collection, click HERE and Ladies' collection, click HERE.

Pagbabago

Children love birthday parties.  Whether it’s their own bash or it’s for a friend, they are more than happy to be part of it.  Kids will never get tired playing games or singing the birthday song the whole afternoon.  Any youngster would love to help the birthday celebrant blow the candles on the cake because for them, it’s their day!  It’s their most favorite time of the year.

How I wish I also felt the same excitement for my birthday when I was a child.  But no matter what I do, it is forever a fact that my dear sister Lala passed away on my 9th birthday.

After that day, celebrating my birthdays was never the same again.  Sure, we never forget to attend mass for my “special” day every year but the day also reminds us of the unfortunate day Ate left us on a very young age.

That’s why sometimes celebrating my birthday doesn’t sound that much fun for me.  But everything changed after 20 years when God gave me a very special gift that would give me a great reason to remember my birthday.

After a failed pregnancy three years ago, I successfully gave birth to my son Charles a month before my 29th birthday in 2009.  My husband and I already agreed that we will have his baptism after a month.  We are not really sure about the date but the only available schedule at Sta. Clara de Monte Falco in Pasig City on the time we inquired was April 19--- my birthday.

And so it happened.  My son was welcomed to the Christian world on a date that we now considered as also “the day Ate Lala was welcomed back to heaven”

After 20 years, I felt like a kid again looking forward for my birthdays in the coming years.  Isa itong malaking pagbabago sa buhay ko!  This wonderful change came through a blessing we now fondly call “Charlikins” who gives us a reason to celebrate life everyday!

Incidentally, a “friend” who has been with us in every life’s celebration is undergoing a big change.   Goldilocks has been part of the Filipino life in the past 44 years and the good news is despite of the it's recent "Pagbabago"--- new fresh and modern look we now see every time we visit their shops--- it still retains the unique Pinoy flavor that we all grew to love.

A Day's Work

It's almost 5:30 p.m. and that means I'll be going home for my husband and baby Charles!  I left home this morning for work while my Charles was still sleeping.  He didn't see me when I left, and honestly, I kept thinking about him kahit na nasa work ako!  I miss him sooo much!  Sadly, we don't have a landline where I can call him or even hear him laughing sana...  Si yaya naman,  di sinasagot yung celphone nya.

Ok now, I have to end this again, and I have to meet my husband in one of our favorite meeting place--- Mercury Drug.  We need to buy  milk, water and diapers for our baby Charlikins!

Park for Free

My brand new Nike Cortez pair c/o my husband's winnings from Nuffnang

Last month, my husband won as the Funniest Blog in the Enervon Hapontukin contest sponsored by Nuffnang.  He won Php10,000 worth of Nike Park GCs and  he let me buy items from Nike!!!  I know I wasn't able to hide my feelings, how excited I was while looking for a perfect bag and rubber shoes.  I end up buying a black printed bag  and a pair of pink Nike Cortez shoes!  I always tell my husband how lucky I am for having him for the rest of my life.  I know I couldn't afford to buy those branded products  especially now that we have a baby and our priority are Charles' basic needs (milk, water, diapers, clothes)

First Time Mom

My baby Charles just woke up!

Hi everyone!  It's my first time to be a blogger and i really don't know what to write.  Good thing my husband's here beside me and with all his patience from my non-stop questions and pangungulit about blogging,  I was able to create my very own site and .... vhoooala!!  yehey!  GOT MY OWN BLOG!!!   Thank you, Love!

Anyway, welcome to Kuwentong Ina.  For my first post, I'll be writing about my one year old baby Charles Anthony.    He's asleep now and soon he'll be awake na. He sleeps like 2 to 3 hours in the afternoon.  I'm thinking what to give him for his merienda later since he eats little palang for snacks.  Maybe, biscuits (Marie nanaman?!?!Ok lang, favorite nya eh!  Hot cakes or avocado salad, since he loves avocado!

I think I'm stopping for awhile.   Charles just woke up.  Time to give his merienda --- Marie?  Hotcake or Avocado?  What do you think?
